서울대학교 인공지능 정책 이니셔티브(SAPI)가 주관하고 서울대학교 법과경제연구센터와 서울대학교 인공지능신뢰성센터가 공동으로 주최하는 올해 첫 SAPI 콜로퀴엄에 여러분을 초대합니다.

이번 콜로퀴엄은 Neurorights Foundation의 대표(executive director)인 Stephen Damianos 박사가 “AI가 뇌를 만나면: 전 세계 신경권리 운동(When AI Meets the Brain: The Global Neurorights Movement)”을 주제로 발표하는 자리입니다. Damianos 박사는 신경기술이 사회적 선을 위해 활용되고 오용으로부터 보호되기 위한 전 세계적 노력에 기여하고 있으며, 뉴욕 타임스 등 주요 언론에 연구가 소개되기도 했습니다. Damianos 박사는 현재 컬럼비아 대학교 신경기술 센터 연구원이며 코넬대학교에서도 윤리 및 공공정책 강사로 재직 중입니다. 다음은 Damianos 박사의 발표문 초록입니다.

The human brain uniquely generates mental and cognitive activity, and neural data directly reflecting nervous‑system activity can reveal highly sensitive information about an individual’s mental and physical health and cognitive processes. Rising investment and technical advances will increase scan resolution and dataset size, while generative AI will improve the ability to decode those signals. Implantable neurotechnologies already can decode language and emotions, and wearables are beginning to develop similar capabilities. This talk addresses how the risks to mental privacy and rights can be maintained by making scrutiny of consumer neurotechnology companies’ privacy practices and user protections urgently important since these trends greatly heighten risks to mental privacy and rights.
